Happy 33rd Birthday Famicom

It’s July 15th, 1983 and Nintendo has just released the Famicom as the Family Computer in Japan.

The first of it’s kind the Famicom created the home console as we know it and changed the world of video games as we know it. Without the Famicom to pave the way you might not have that fancy PS4 on your shelf.

Rebranded as the Nintendo Entertainment System or “NES” the console was released in the United States in 1985 and in Europe soon after in 1986.

So today, give a little thanks to the Famicom you may not be old enough to have enjoyed it in its prime, but we all owe it a lot. Happy birthday Famicom!
